The purpose of the post is to manage all aspects of the service and
centre on behalf of the voluntary Board and to work with other
agencies in Mayfield and across the city to progress social inclusion.
JOB DESCRIPTION
* Having overall responsibility for the day to day operation of the
Project. This requires an overview of the Project and current
developments and trends in community development work.
* Ensuring the overall financial management of the Project in
conjunction with the Administrator, Auditor and Board and Funders
including HSE, Pobal and Cork ETB.
* Coordination/direction/support and supervision of Project staff
and volunteers and allocation of responsibilities.
* Clearing necessary decisions or consulting with the Management
Committee and Chairperson as appropriate to ensure the smooth running
of the Project.
* Planning and reviewing the work of the Project.
* Completing grant agreements with core funders and applying for
project funding for new initiatives.
* Overseeing the maintenance of the premises.
* Completing reports on the work of the Project as required.
* Working closely with the HSE Community Work Department and the
Health Action Zone Community Health Worker in the local area across
Community Health Initiatives.
* Promoting joint working between local, citywide and statutory
organizations such as HSE, Cork City Council and Mayfield Community
organizations to further social inclusion and health initiatives.
* Development and maintenance of links with a variety of local,
regional, national, statutory and voluntary organizations and networks
e.g. CESCA, Cork Cancer Action Network and Public Participation
Network.
* Contributing to policy and policy implementation as may be
appropriate.
* Other tasks as may arise in the course of the work.
The Manager will report to the Board on a monthly basis and will
receive support from Staff Liaison.
Two written references will be required if successful in the post.?
Garda vetting will also be a requirement.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* A good working knowledge and experience of community development.
* Knowledge and experience of facilitation, training and
organisational development in the community and voluntary sector
including programme planning and review.
* Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
* Good oral and written communication skills including fluent spoken
and written English.
* Flexibility and commitment to community development practices.
* A demonstrated record of involvement in communities.
* Ability to work on own initiative and with teams.
* Strong writing and computer skills.
* Openness, willingness and commitment to relevant training.
